This ministry assists those who are of low income and other mitigating circumstances with food assistance. In June of 2004, The Solid Rock Food Closet continued the work of the Crisis Food Closet which began at the First Baptist Church of Sparta. During that year, a total of 2,915 clients were served. With growth each year; in 2013 it served an average of 1,079 people a month, 19,428. Operating hours are Monday – Thursday 10:45am – 1:40pm. A photo ID and proof of Alleghany County residency is required when requesting assistance.
