In these counties, more than 43,280 people live in food insecure households, more than a third of whom are children. Last year we distributed more than 3.9 million pounds of food to our network of 98 partner agencies in the local community. Our volunteers at the branch served 8,311 hours, the equivalent to approximately 4 full-time employees. For every dollar donated, we can provide 5 meals to the Sandhills community! Currently more than 75 area churches support our efforts to meet the emergency needs of our Moore County neighbors by providing food, clothing and financial resources. We are also supported by the United Way of Moore County, many service organizations and businesses, as well as individuals throughout the community. The Coalition provides a standard food package designed to feed a family for five days. Our food pantry is stocked through donations received from our Covenant Churches and the community or purchased from a local grocery distributor. Despite the tremendous donations received, last year we spent over $85,000 to purchase additional items.
